I am still having problems with joint pain so once again the canal makes an ideal walk. The route was picked so that if I had any problems I could pack it in and leave Edith to return to the car and then pick me up.

We started the walk at Hest Bank on a bit of a cloudy morning...

...and set off in the direction of Lancaster.

Looking back towards Hest Bank and a bit of blue sky.

Across the bay towards Lakeland.

This is what happens when somebody walks in front when you are about to take a picture!!

We carried on along the canal for a while before turning around....

...to retrace our steps for a short while...

...before leaving the canal at this bridge...

....to take the lane down towards Morecambe.

On our way we saw this chappie in a field and with a little encouragement from Edith...

...it made its way over for some biscuits.

Further along after crossing the railway line the path passes behind...

....the grounds of Morecambe Golf Club..

Nearby on some marshy ground we spotted this heron.

Further along the path passes Happy Mount Park where a council workman was just switching on the splash pool which is now open at weekends. Don't think there will be many takers today looking at that sky.

A quick cuppa and cake...

....before leaving the park...

...to get on to the promenade with a view of Lakeland.

Ahead of us there are showers passing by.

Arnside Knott however is bathed in sunlight.

It was decision time here whether to return along the shore or continue ahead. I suddenly remembered a favour I had made to a Facebook friend in America some time ago.

This is for you Anna!!!....Anna used to live here many years ago when her father was manager at a firm in Lancaster....

....she has many fond memories of the area and wanted to show her friends in the USA where she lived.....It took me some time but I hope you like them Anna.

Finally back to the car parked at Station Road.
